Senior Backend Developer — Firearms Register

About the assignment

Brønnøysundregistrene (Brønnøysund Register Centre) is seeking a senior backend developer to further develop and maintain the solutions for the digital firearms register and firearms administration. The consultant will act as tech lead in the product team and work closely with Politiets IT-tjeneste and Politidirektoratet (National Police Directorate) on integrations and requirements. The assignment requires strong skills in Kotlin/Java with Spring Boot, REST APIs and modern, scalable system solutions. The role involves periodic stays in Brønnøysund and requires security clearance at RESTRICTED level.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain and further develop the solutions for digital firearms administration in the product team
• Work with Politiets IT-tjeneste on integrations with their solutions
• Work with Politidirektoratet on requirements and solutions to meet them
• Act as tech lead for the product team at Brønnøysundregistrene
• Contribute to knowledge transfer to the client's employees
• Assist with other initiatives, projects or tasks at Brønnøysundregistrene as required

Required skills

• At least 3 years of higher education in ICT, computer engineering or a related field
• Good oral and written Norwegian, minimum B2 for non-native speakers
• 5 years or more of backend development and maintenance in Kotlin or Java with Spring Boot
• Experience developing and enhancing REST APIs and shared components
• Public sector experience is an advantage
• Relevant experience with robust and scalable system solutions, system design and solution architecture
• Experience with microservice architecture, modelling, automated testing, performance optimisation and troubleshooting
• Relevant experience of agile development (Scrum/Kanban, TDD, CI, automated testing, code review, version control)
• Experience with tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence and Postman
• Experience developing solutions on cloud platforms with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
