Senior backend developer — Beneficial Owners Register

About the assignment

Brønnøysundregistrene (the Brønnøysund Register Centre) is seeking up to 3 senior backend developers to develop and operate the national register of beneficial owners on the new BRsys technical platform. The platform is based on a microservices architecture with Docker containers on RedHat OpenShift, and uses Java, JavaScript, React/Node, SpringBoot, Kafka, PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch. The consultants will join product teams alongside internal specialists and other consultants, and will report to the product area manager. The assignment requires regular travel to Brønnøysund and security clearance at BEGRENSET (RESTRICTED) level.

Responsibilities

• Work with the team to understand needs and design solutions
• Develop, test and implement software in line with specifications
• Maintain and improve existing code
• Ensure good test coverage and contribute to bug fixing
• Keep up to date with technologies and tools
• Ensure knowledge transfer to other system developers in the teams
• Take part in code reviews and production deployments

Required skills

• At least 3 years of higher education in IT from a university or university college
• Good oral and written Norwegian, min. B2 for non-native speakers
• 5 years or more of experience in backend development in the public sector
• 5 years or more of experience as a Java/JEE backend developer
• Solid experience of agile system development/methodology, system design, modelling and documentation
• Solid experience of microservices architecture based on Spring Boot, distributed systems, transaction handling, error handling, logging and monitoring
• Solid experience of development on a PaaS platform with Docker and OpenShift
• Solid experience of CI/CD, builds, automated unit and integration testing, and performance testing
• Solid experience as a backend developer with IntelliJ, Jira, Bitbucket/GIT, Maven, Gradle and Tekton
• Solid experience of PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, ActiveMQ/AMQ Broker, Kafka, Prometheus, Grafana, Nexus, RedHat QUAY and ArgoCD
